I get a phone call today at work and the caller ID says FF4 LLC... I'm thinking who the fuck is trying to sell me something now and decide to answer the phone "Hello" instead of introducing myself... They ask if they can talk to the owner of the shop (they stated his name) and I asked who was calling and what it was about and they said Jon Doe with Fast and the Furious.

Now this is the second time they have called us (the first was for FF2) to do a muscle car that had a non functional turbo system "just for looks". This time its a BBC 70 SS Chevelle... My boss tells them once again that they need to manage their time better and we cant deliver a fake car to California in a week.

CLIFFS: Some guy from the movie production crew wants my shop to build them a fake Chevelle "yesterday" as in ASAP. We cant deliver such a thing.

    .

Instead someone else's shop will be massively over paid for a week of work.

Can't wait to see the 70 Chevelle they throw together though, that's one of my favorite cars.

I guarantee you they'd have paid overtime or whatever, and on a '70 Chevelle paint and body's gonna take way fucking longer than any mechanical interior work.

2-3 guys working 18 hour days could gut a Malibu, install a cage, re-install a custom interior, drop a SBC/BBC/tranny/diff combo into it, throw some catalog suspension bits at it, and have it to the body shop in three to four days. If they wanted it like the Monte in FF3, you had way more than enough time.

4-5 hours sleep a night and not seeing your family is a small price to pay for a rep as go-to guys and a good paycheck.

They're making a fourth movie? The only one that was even slightly good was the first one, and that was only because it was a new concept at that point.

    Negative.

We didnt pass up an opportunity. Trust me, we would have taken it. This is the second time they wanted something in under a week and the payout wasnt good.

What fun is it to build a fake non functional turbo system to even begin with?!?

I thought the same thing though when they called "Why aren't we doing this?!?" and when my boss explained the terms its a little bit more understandable why you turn it down... not to mention we would have to deliver the car to CA as well....

I was referring to John Doe so I didnt get a bunch of OTers yelling at me for ban this and ban that... I've been trying to follow the rules a bit more :) I do have the number to FF4 LLC though

The only way I see this making sense would be if they set some sort of ridiculously low "take it or leave it" price.

If they wanted the Chevelle done and delivered in 7 days for, say, $5,000 I could see why you'd refuse.

They called on the 30th, and need the car today... Thats why we refused.... They alway want whatever it is they need "yesterday".
