I was looking for a gut hook yesterday and found a couple mags for my .30-06 covered in rust inside my hunting bag
it wipes off with just my finger or a silicon rag, but i thought it was funny :O
I remember reading Springfield would warranty rust issues?
Me too, I've owned 2 with no rust problems. I'd actually like to have a new XDm soon
Is it just on the black slide, or any internal parts? I have an XD45C (still new to me), with the SS slide, I'm hoping I never notice rust anywhere.
I don't think you will. I've owned a couple 1-2years ago and didn't notice any rust. It may have to do with certain serial build dates?
pwn'd by the weak ass melonite finish. duracoat and call it a day.
*edit* pwn'd by the weak ass melonite metal treatment.
*edit x2* depending on when you bought your gun, pwn'd by the weak ass oh n/m.
I hope my XD never rusts...
I have a 3 year old .357 Sig XD that has sat in a lock box in my Foyer for years and has never rusted. My Glock 35 started to rust after only the first year after my Tennifer was worn through from my kydex holster so I just polished (read sanded down) my slide. It rusts now, but at least it looks intentional.
Any gun that is not properly maintained will rust. Bottom line.
Won't Springfield refinish it for you?
You mean Glock? What's cool is Glock will refinish the slide for you for $50. But I get a lot of people that says it looks pretty cool. Every once in a while I have to sand off the spots of rust to keep it from pitting, and I keep a little oil on it. You just have to be diligent and there's not a lot of time that passes that I'm not messing with my game guns. I was dry firing with it last night.
I like how it looks, and like I said, I can keep up with the maintenance.
No I meant Springfield. I guess I was operating off the assumption that if my gun is rusting, there must be something wrong with the finish.
I've never inquired, but they "should".
