The base looks very dilapadated. Been there a couple times. I was sationed at DM in Tucson. Anyways it is in a nice area... but its pretty far west of Phoenix. The roads suck there too. Like I said though nice area... if you go south on the main road(forget the name) from the gates it gets you too all the nice restaraunts and shopping centers. The BX there is lame. Nothing like the one at DM. Oh and for VAQ they put my family and I in an old base house for a couple nights... wasnt bad though because it was separated and no one up your ass.

By the way are you just out of tech school or something? What afsc? So you know im not in any more im retired... and I haven't been there in a month or 2... even though I need to update my Tri-Care so I can see off base providers for my family and I, heh.

I live a couple miles from there. The new/nice area hes talking about is Avondale and Goodyear. Alot of new home developements. malls, restraunts, and stuff.

My dad was stationed there for 5 and a half years. The area is nice. Litchfield Park is an uppity kind of place... But, hey. Glendale is where Eli made his magic happen... Maybe it will be nice to you. I'd love to go back.

i live in Glendale, it's about 25 minutes from base but a much better community than most areas especially near base. Everything you need is within ~5 miles... target, walmart, best buy, ton of restaurants, etc.

just stay away from the red areas :mamoru:
