They only made 100 of those, they're pretty much exactly on-par with a C6 Vette as far as performance is concerned, and at a similar cost. I'd rather have the C6.

Exactly, assuming you mean AC Cobra. My uncle had a '67 AC with a 428. That little car was insane. I assume a Mallett Solstice would be similar if not better or faster.

Exactly. The Solstice's body even looks like a modern Cobra, and was purposely engineered for easy V8 swaps. :naughty:

I saw two Solstices today while out and about in my GTO...one is a very rare sight in my neck of the woods...two is unheard of. I couldn't help but think how badass it would be to stuff my LS2 into one of those little cars.

I spent about two hours crawling around a Solstice in the shop. It looks like a LSX would almost be a bolt-in.
I think when I can get a three or four year old one, I'll give it a go.

I wonder if it will handle like shit now with the extra 200 lbs on the front end.

probably...an ls7 solstice is actually slower than a stock solstice.

Are you out of your mind?

The LS2 Solstice is a 12-second car so I can't imagine what the LS7 version would be. Even if you had to baby it off the line to avoid spinning the tires off the wheels it would run a 1/4 a hell of a lot faster than a stock car.

As for handling, the LS2 Solstice still has a front/rear weight ratio of about 54/46 and it'll pull around 1g on the skid pad. So much for handling like shit.

It probably handles just fine, but my perspective is that if you're stuffing a 500+ hp SBC into one of these things that handling concerns should be secondary (at best).

Worrying about the handling of a Mallet Solstice because it's less balanced than a Miata is like worrying about the Cobra 427 because a birdcage Maserati outhandled it.

    Technically true, but fundamentally pointless.

The comment was made in reference to racing other than drag.

.... like that which requires some type of skill.
