LS1 = 6 bolt mains, 98+ cars, different size, different block, etc etc etc

LT1 = 4 bolt mains, pre 98 cars, typical small block with reversed cooling, fuel injection, aluminum heads, etc.

    Both 5.7L

    LT1 - Great low-end torque

LS1 - Came after the LT1. Better high end power and more hp/tq than the LT1.

    For F-Bodies:

    LT1 was 93-97
275hp till 96 when it got dual cats for 285hp
SS version debuted in '96 w/ 305 hp
100 of the 30th Anniversary versions in 97 came with an LT4, a specially tuned version of the LT1 good for 330hp.

    LS1 was 98-02.
305hp till 01 when it was bumped to 310
    SS versions started w/ 320hp, 325 for 01 and 02
SLP options take them to 345hp

I am fully aware of that.

I'm just lazy and figure he's not going to get a C4 or C5 anyway so what was the point? :fawk:

  17. From what I was told the LT1 is a heavier block, and the LS1 can handle more power.

    :dunno:

  19. That's right, the my friend told me the LT1 is an iron block. Is it true that the LS1 can handle more power though?

And I normaly wouldn't care, but we got onto the subject because he putting an LS1 into his MK3 Supra :)

That's pretty true, my Z28 just had a flowmaster but it sounded pretty damn intimidating. However, I put a loudmouth on my SS and I get lots of compliments.

Here's a shameless plug for my cardomain site.

LT1 is going to be a lot cheaper to mod, if you get into things such as heads, etc... especially bottom end parts, such as pistons and rods. its a basic old school 350 bottom end, so there are tons of parts. the LS1 is a completely new motor. If you are on a budget, go with the LT1.

LT1's in Corvettes were 4 bolt mains, but in Camaros, Firebirds, Impalas... they were two-bolt.

    After having owned both Ls1 x 11ty billion > lt1

No comparing the too. However I find the lt1 motors funner to mod as they are much cheaper :wiggle:
