I just want to know if its normal to have lower back soreness after deadlift day.

I've been DL'ing for about 6 months now, and i have soreness for 1-2 days afterwards. Not necessarily muscle soreness, but kinda feels like bone / joint soreness if you know what i mean. It always goes away... and im definately feeling normal by the next time I DL. sometimes I even DL on saturday and SLDL on Monday.

I use good form and want to avoid an injury... so is this normal?

Okay okay, i'm sorry. Let's take your post more seriously...I think I know what you mean by the joint soreness. Like, it's almost as if your vertabras are inflammed or something? I get that too after I do heavy (heavy for me) deadlifts. I'm not sure if it's a bad thing or not...

after particularly good sessions... its not like an ache that keeps coming back... its definately triggered by a heavy workout

I get it bad. I've been doing SLDL's on leg day and the powerlifting type deadlifts on back day. My lower back is killing me. I'm cutting one or both of them out from my regular routine as it is affecting other exercises.

I know what you mean. I used to get a weird aching pain/soreness in the joints in my lower back/hip/etc. Muscle soreness too, but that's fine. It was the joint pain the was driving me crazy.

Ended up I had bad form. I worked on my form, made sure to reset after every rep, and my lower back joints never hurt again.

That's what I'm worried of. I am new to doing deadlifts and, unfortunately, at the health club I work out at, there is no one else that does deadlifts that I can watch or can watch me and critique my form. I'm putting DL's on the shelf until I can work out with MY2001C5 (lurker) who has more DL experience than I do. Right now, the pain from DL is affecting my squats the most.

sounds like what happend to me. started out that way, figured it was just sore from the workout but things progressivly got worse and my L4 disc became herniated while my L5 was bulging. not fun...
