I'm not used to rotating my hips while kicking or punching. Now that I am, my lower backed stays sore 24-7. Will I just get used to it after a while? I've been doing ma for 5 weeks now.

it'll get better w/ time. everyone is always sore when you first start doing this type of stuff because they're movements you don't normally do.

Still doing some pl but more conditioning work than anything else. I've had to stop goodmornings because my back hurts so bad.

have someone check your form and tell them your problem. Bad habits are really hard to shake after a while.

Just keep on doing what you're doing if the coaches tell you that you're okay and you trust them.

It takes a while to get used to certain movements.

My opinion, you are using muscles that you have never used before, or using them in ways never used before. So while you sound like you are in A+ shape, your body has to work extra hard to make these new and slightly awkward movements. I would say for you to cut back a little bit if you are going too often. As you progress and get used to it, then you can go to the gym 5 - 6 days a week.

I'd be willing to bet you aren't in the same ballpark as BDR strong. No offense to you, but he's a world class strenght athlete.

i can't imagine what someone like BDR would do once he learns the proper technique. he's gotta hit like a semi truck.

We have a few ex-pl guys at my BJJ gym, and they aren't anywhere near as strong as BDR, and they are retarted strong. Just getting grabbed sucks because you can't break their grips.

suprisingly, in my experience. muscles have almost no impact on how hard someone hits.

I didn't say that I was as strong as him, just that like him, my back is strong enough so that any kind of back soreness would be quite a surprise. In fact I had been pissed because the strongest part of my body has turned into a nagging problem.

i dont have any real stand up experience but when you're an elite level powerlifter like him, that gorilla strength has to come in play. but again, i know absolutely nothing really about standup

I can tell you that no one likes to hold the bag for me. I usually have to have an instructor hold the bag for punching and kicking.

i think deadlifts are important if you're into grappling or training.
