Super Colibri is ~$30 for 500. That's about double the normal price for .22 rounds.

Is there anything else you guys would use in a .22LR (Marlin 60)?

Subsonics always seem expensive. The only subs I've shot in my Marlin 60 are Eley, and they are waaay more than $30/500.

CCI Subsonics are quiet when I've used them, the problem with super colibri's is that they are primer only...I think they're recommended only for pistols, since there is a chance you'll lodge it in the barrel on a rifle. I've never seen great accuracy with the super colibris either.

If you want quiet (and they are legal where you live) get a suppressor.

aquila makes a 60 gr subsonic round, but it may keyhole unless you have the proper twist. What is it you're trying to accomplish? pest control?

Ive used the ones that fire off primer only out of a rifle without any problems. They are definitely some quiet suckers.

BTW, I am jealous of you being a pilot :o

edit: changed spelling from quicker to quiet :o

I don't wanna make too much noise. I think I'll go get a box of a few types and just decide which is quieter.

Are you trying to shoot out back, no hearing protection on? Or just not be terribly annoying to the neighbors, while you wear hearing protection?

don't shoot the super collibri out of a rifle, it is not intended for that

also, it will not cycle the action on any gun

    Me or Hooligan?
I'm a pilot, but IIRC, Hooligan flies much cooler airplanes.

SUre it won't cycle. But where do you get the not for use in rifles? I shoot it out of my 10/22 from time to time. Just have to hand cycle it.

Every site I've seen it for sale it says not to use it in rifles...that it is for handgun use only, because it may not have the power to clear the barrel from just the primer.

More of a liability standpoint that they put it on there I'm sure.

I've read about this on a Google search. A small minority of people have experienced a bullet not clearing the barrel. I guess it's really easy to clear with a cleaning rod though...

i've read that it doesn't have powder, the bullet is only propelled by the primer so it's possible for the bullet to not make it out of the barrel. :dunno:
