I guess I bought my 50mm just in time, as that f/1.8 really came in handy last night. The guy performing is Dan Griffin who is a friend of mine. You can hear his music at www.myspace.com/dangriffinmusic

This first shot is my favorite, I think. I read once that the best shots of a performer come when they pull back into their own space, or are fully extended. I think this shot fits nicely into the former:

Then a selection of the rest:

D80. Some shots with the 50mm, and some with an 18-70. And the WB is definitely off in the last shot, but I've corrected it in the rest for the most part. I kinda liked the colours in the last one, which is why I left it.

you've never shot a concert have you? It's pretty hard to get accurate WB when there are 4 or 5 different colored lights going on, unless you use a flash to drown out the "ambient" lighting

I like the pic of the guitar from the back the best.

Well, if I wanted to just edit the colours as to remove the ambient lighting, I might as well just use flash. Here's pretty much exactly what the ambient light looked like:

Plus, I don't know what the fuss over the colours is. I like them/they're natural, anyways.

Where did I say anything about removing colors? Calibrate your monitor, the red on his face is blown in the last pic of your first post.

But then again I've never taken a concert picture, or any picture in fact. I'm saving for my first 300d :x:

Did you use a tripod for any of these shots and if so which ones did you use it on?

I didn't use a tripod for any. Some of those shots are from less than 1/50th, and so I had to use walls/tables to stabilize.

And yes, I used noiseware on some of them, but when you're doing concert photography, noise is a given. When it's not there, personally, I find it to look really weird.

    Thanks for looking.
