I'm low carbing it right now during my cut and was wondering with all the protein I take in from eating all this meat and cheese and egg and stuff, is it really necessary to also take whey shakes after working out? I imagine its probably still good since its a different type of protein but whats the input on this.

Yes. Still a good idea. Whey protein in the form of a shake is fast digesting.. Typically digested and circulating within 20 minutes.

Protein shake before and after > protein shake before > protein shake after.

If you want to take it once, take some whey+carbs before.

Look at this graph showing that protein synthesis is the same after in both conditions but if you take it before you also benefit from a nice boost in protein synthesis DURING the workout :

Wrong. The post workout shake is much more important.

:hsugh: Didn't you read the scientific paper I quoted the post above you ?
Before is better than after but there's nothing better than at both times probably. Another shake an hour after the PWO shake is also great since the boost in protein synthesis is still going strong.
