I read the sticky and checked out the links but still got a question. I lost 90lbs so far with weight watchers but over hte last 6 weeks my overall loss as slowed almost to a halt. Normally i would say, thats fine, 1lb a week is good till I'm where I want to be but I have a wedding in 18 weeks and want to lose as much as possible before that. I'm 6'4 287lbs. I know I'm not going to be skinny or even skinny-fat by then but I want to lose as much as possible. I am looking to atleast try to get to 250lbs.

I did atkins many many years ago and lost 60lbs in less than 4 months but I dont' want to do atkins again. I want to just cut out the bad carbs. The sticky said people have success with 100-150 carbs but i want less than that. Atkins says 20 to start but that sucks, I'm thinking 50.

I'm just wondering what all you people who cut with low carb followed. Did any of you have carb-up days? Thanks for the help.

Here, let me give responses that I know are going to come to save you guys time....

**Don't do low carb, you are doing good with weight watchers

    That should be a few..haha.

    Thanks for the help again.

Go to the file sharing sticky and download "The Ketogenic Diet". All the answers are there.

Take a few weeks at maintenance. You doubtless need a diet break by now.

my biggest question is... are you working out (and I mean lifting)?

if you are, I found great results on a TKD diet, basically limiting carbs to 50 on non workout days and 100-120 on workout days. The workout days main carbs came at breakfast and postworkout. This routine also called for one cheat day - but a healthy cheat at that (if you want a slice or two of pizza... eat it, but dont eat the whole pie and so on....)

it was a good diet and easy to follow. you can read about it here:

if you've been dieting for months in a row, your body's metabolism has slowed and you have begun to adapt yourself to maintain on the amount of calories you've been eating.

so at this point you have 2 options, you can create an even greater deficit by eating even less or increasing activity to burn more calories, OR you can take a break for a few weeks, raise your intake level, and then start again.

option 2 is no good because I only have 18 weeks till my wedding and taking 2-3 weeks off and losing no weight is not an option. Option 1 may be a possibility though.

This is why I am suggesting the low carb diet. I figured 7 months on weight watchers and then almost 4 months low carb should be good. After my wedding I'll go back to weight watchers and try to get to my goal weight by summer '07

 Dude- carb blockers are worthless, and it's well known. I don't need to give you a study for that. It's crap, plain and simple.
