Low Carb Diet

    for someone who is about 6'5" 290 what would be a good number of carbs in grams to take in a day if you want to take the low carb route?

    For what purpose? I'm guessing cutting?

    And are we talking going low-carb, or going no carb? For the average person, going even 40-30-30 is "low-carb".

    basically general weight loss.

    Same principle as just normal dieting- pick your calorie level, set macros accordingly; protein more like 1.5-2g per lb of bodyweight though rather than 1g per lb. The big plus of low-carb diets for a lot of people is that they do tend to blunt appetite. You don't have to go low-carb to lose fat though.

    Low-carb diets usually are lower cal diet since protein and fibrous veggies are kinda boring and more filling than carb food. By monitoring caloric intake though, you won't have to bring the carbs down. I guess you can monitor your cal intake and begin to do something (lift, cardio) before trying to play with macronutrient breakdowns.
