I want one. I don't know too much about this car, much less this company. I do know that its based off an MR2 motor, but again, I'd like to learn more about this car...the pro's the con's...any owners? any drivers? any input is appreciated ;)

People who drive a Lotus tend to be douchebags. I don't know if douchebags are attracted to them or the car turns people into douchebags. Check out the lotus forums and you'll see why.

you could probably substitute any car manufacturer in that statement and have it be half true.

    Douchebag checking in.

I've had an Elise for almost 3 years now and absolutely love it. I wouldn't want it as my only car, too small, noisy, no cargo space, AC doesn't work all that well when stuck in traffic on a hot day, the stock radio sucks, the seats have about 2 mm of padding, to tilt wheel, spartan interior, blah blah blah, but the car wasn't built to coddle you, it was built to eat up the twisties and that it does exceptionally well. It's mostly a weekend toy for us, including AutoX and track days, but I still drive it to work at least once a week because it's so damn fun. We have a 1500 mile roadtrip planned this fall for the Elise, so we're definitely not afraid of spending some lengthy seat time in it. Luckily my wife is good at packing light.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

I think it's got something to do with, if they weren't elitist douchebags, they wouldn't be rich enough to buy a Lotus, and they'd drive a Miata instead.

    It stands to reason.

EDIT: One more con: you can't carry anything heavier than a laptop without fucking up the weight balance.

You can buy a used Elise for 30k or less. While that's not exactly Miata money, one hardly needs to be rich to be able to afford one. Perhaps some people should spend less time whining about the success of others and more time working on their own.

Who's whining? I never said anything about how other people earn and spend their money in this thread; someone else brought up the douchebag angle.

You spend a lot more time in this forum bithching about people who have nicer toys than you than you do actually talking about cars. Ask yourself why that is.

Oh well, off to go race my Lotus now.

BTW, my wife races the Lotus too. Do I have to call her a douchebag too? Or maybe something better suited to the female gender. How about ball washer?

I dunno about you, but I just use soap. Then again, given your general attitude, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you got suckered into buying a specialized scrotum-cleansing device.

I talk about cars in American Muscle, where people actually talk about cars. Euro Imports is 99% posturing anyway.

FYI, tolerance means I'm required to let you get away with living your life the way you see fit; it does not mean I'm required to hold a positive opinion of it, or even that I'm required to keep quiet if I have a negative opinion. Consider your continued breathing as evidence that I'm tolerating your lifestyle, and be glad you live in a country where not getting killed for enjoying Activity X is the norm.

Interesting. I don't really spend any time in American Muscle because I don't have any interest. Guess I could go clutter up some posts in there with worthless insights and negative stereotyping, but that seems like a pointless waste of my time. If this forum is all posturing, what draws you here?

Oh, and thanks for not killing me because I have nicer toys than you. Gosh, now I almost feel bad for subtly calling you a pussy in the post above.

What I am glad about is that I live in a country where I had the opportunity to get educated, work hard and enjoy the fruits of that labor.
