I played it at the start, was fairly enjoyable but it didn't run well with my dual core processor so I quit, hoping that it would be optimized in the future.

Haven't gone back, but I've thought about it.

I enjoyed it - loved the cinmeatic elements and the story dungeons that follow, roughly, the books. Tolkiens world is brilliant and that was enjoyable in itself and the community I found to be very friendly. However I never paid for it because I didnt feel it would capture my attention for that long.

I played when it was released, and I kind of liked it, but the crafting system sucked and it didn't do the "little things" well enough to keep my attention for more than 20-25 hours of gameplay. At the time, having to equip a specific item to farm your resources seemed like an unneccessary PITA, the spawn rates were maddeningly inconsistent, and alot of the combat mechanics seemed superfluous. :dunno:

They might have fixed that by now, though.

Played it at release, thought it was terrible, pretty, but still terrible. The movement felt wrong, the animations were off, it felt like a bargain bin title. It's got the same grinding as wow with none of the reward of ending up with a truly unique character. The most important thing in an MMO is being able to separate yourself as an individual in some way. In wow, its gear. There is an immense variety in gear, enough so that you will almost never see a person that looks like another person, I dont think I ever have, with the millions of people that play that game. There is over 100,000 different pieces of gear, and the vast majority of it looks very different from everything else, with 19 different gear slots on your character you can do the math to figure out the number of unique combinations.

What I have seen of lotro, ffxi, and gw... everyone looks identical, and that does not appeal to me at all.

I reinstalled after playing in the Beta and stopping at release. They have 3 content updates with a 4th coming in the next week. Many bugs have been fixed since release and a lot of things have been revamped. The game has really drawn me in a second time. Mainly due to the lore and game world. Turbine has paid incredible attention to detail in regards to the books and being able to visit all the places I've read about is awesome. I'm up to 27 now (27 Hobbit Hunter---Domokun) and play on Gladden.

The latest content update is great. I've been playing this game since November and I'm loving it totally.

It's WAY more fun than WoW.

I'm on Brandywine, in a small kin and my hunter is 39. :)

I also have a 16 minstrel, 8 loremaster and 7 burglar....so far I like my hunter best but I think my second fave will end up being the burglar.

Burglar got a lot of buffs in Book 12. I'm loving the melee changes to my Hunter (3 Focus instantly from Misdirection = win) and being able to shoot on the move.

Have you bought a personal house yet? I've got a Deluxe house in the Bree-land housing area. It's at 3 Fountain Street in Darstead if you get bored and want to make a toon on Gladden and visit one day. :o
