It's been a long time since I've posted and I thought I'd give an update. I got a job at my gym helping train kids in muay thai and sometimes wrestling, which has been an amazing opportunity to get in alot of training. Earlier this summer I won an amature muay thai fight, and took third in a small local grappling tourney. The muay thai fight went well. It went to decision, but I kept it pretty one sided.

This past weekend was pretty disappointing though. I had my first pro MMA fight and lost at 145lbs. We couldn't find any information on my opponent beforehand so I didn't really have a set game plan. We were told he was a brawler and hadn't trained MMA very long. I went in feeling over confident and pretty cocky about my stand up game. We took a second to feel each other out, but it wasn't long before he came at me with real crisp combinations. I cracked him real hard with a good rib kick, but I was pretty much getting picked apart. I got rocked pretty bad and clinched and scored a take down. He sunk in a guillotine when I did, but I scrambled out and we were back on our feet. He came at me with again landing good shots and I caught one of his kicks and took him down again. I was pretty dazed when I did that though and he ended up taking my back and sinking in a rear naked choke.

I found out afterwards that the kid has boxed for 15 years and has trained alot, just not from a gym anywhere around here. It's too bad because I know I could've beat him if I came in with the right game plan. I'm excited to get back in the cage though. It was absolutely surreal. I'm planning on fighting MMA again at the end of september or october. I'll post pictures/video when I get them.

sounds like a pretty cool fight.....lots of guys train but to go out into the cage and give it all you got when you dont really know the guy's gameplan takes some balls.....im sure that this is just the very beginning and there will be more to come from you...and dont worry....noone ever wins all the time.....:big grin: you learn from your mistakes and try your best to be the best....

I just got knocked out in my last fight. First time.

It happens, learn and move on. You have more balls than 99% of the population just for stepping in. Be proud about that.
