So over the course of the past year or so, Ive gone from about 297 down to 185 through a combination of diet, exersize, and sport. I feel better than I ever have and look better too, but now I want to start lifting to gain more muscle...Over the course of the year i have stuck to pretty stringent routine of running 3-4 days a week for approx. 3 miles or about 750 calories a session. On days off from running I did two sets of 50-60 sit-ups/crunches and 3 sets of 30 - 35 pushups... This all during the off season for rugby...So i acutally do have some muscle build up, but its imbalanced...Anyways any advice would be fantastic :wavey::hs:

Food for thought, 3 miles is roughly 3-400 calories. Not even close to 750.

Most listings for cal/hr for running assume the runner is at a weight around 150, at the ~300 pounds which you started at you'd burn double the calories / hour. So 300-400 becomes 750 for him. Incline and lots of other factors can also effect the calories burned. That said, the treadmill counters are pretty bad, since they can't measure or track everything, they can be around 20% off.
