This might just be for the devildogs who went through the humps in Camp Pendleton, but did any of you lose the feeling in your toes during boot camp?

If so, how long does it take to get back to normal? A lot of the other guys in my platoon had the same problem, so i'm assuming it is common. Any ideas?

happened to me at AF BMT too. The feeling just returns on its own later down the road.

I have never lost feeling in my toes during ruckmarches. Not sure what you are doing wrong, but you are cutting off circulation somewhere.

My toes are still a little numb. I thought I would never regain feeling in them, esp my big toe. However, as the weeks go by I have regained a lot of feeling :)

You need to learn to take care of your feet. Didn't have that here, nor did I get any blisters. Only a few hotspots. Get better socks and insoles.

I never got blisters, my feet were always fine, my toes just got numb. I'm pretty sure it's normal.

How many miles were you doing at a time? Not talking about over the course of two days, but the longest distance you rucked at one time?

The longest was the 10 mile hike on the 3rd day of the Crucible. 5 miles to the base of The Reaper, then like a 15 minute climb to the top of the mountain, then hike to the bottom, then 5 miles back to the house.

And your feet went numb? Sounds like your boots don't fit, and/or you had them on to tight. Any lower back pain or numbness in your legs?

That was the longest hike, but for 2 weeks (field week and the crucible) we hiked a lot each day. The "hikes" were together as a company, but we still had to hike from station to station or course to course each day as a platoon, so it was a lot.

No pain in back or legs though.

Same thing happened to me during BattleStations at Boot Camp, Our first event got my socks soaked inside my boots, and I had to run the next 12 hours like that. It took months before the feeling came back to my big toe.

It happens. Especially in Great Lakes.

I just got used to it, what bothered me was the pain in the heel/balls of your foot from standing at attention for hours on end.

That's exactly the type of info I was looking for .

The second link has some pretty odd tips, they say you should put vaseline on your nipples

Oh God I would have loved to have the tips on the nipple part. In boot camp, your shirt gets completely soaked with sweat a lot, plus a bunch of sand weighing your shirt down, and that will rub your nipples raw. It is pain, I promise.
