I just ordered my Nikon 28-200mm ED IF f/3.5-5.6 today from B&H since Onecall has been out of stock on them for weeks.

I think you'll like it, it's a damn nice lens for the range it covers. It's become my main lens and I use it for 95% of the shots I take.

The only complaint I have read about it is that the zoom is bassackwards. Turn left to zoom instead of right.

Well, if you are holding the camera in the shooting position, you would turn the zoom ring to the right with the D70 kit lens. On this Nikon 28-200, you turn it left.

Yes, to zoom you have to spin it backwards compared to the kit lens and the 70 - 300mm 'D' lens. It doesn't bother me at all though.

Technically if you're zooming, spinning it "backwards" would be considered spinning it "forward".. :eek3:

ok techno guru...the zoom if spun to the right side normally zooms in on nikon style cameras and if spun to the left normally zooms in on a canon. I understood perfectly because that was a big deal for me in deciding on a 20d or d70. but now that I know it truly isn't a nikon/canon thing, I may be swayed.

Nikon and most Sigmas that I know of turn clockwise to "zoom in" -- :dunno: if Tokina does this based on the mount the lens is for :dunno:

No, you didn't read it. The fire was next door and none of BH's stock was damaged. In any case, this is just one of several BH warehouses. Calls were made to BH from board members from FM and other boards and it was pretty much confirmed that there wouldn't be delays or anything. :ugh:
