Looking to upgrade dvd burners: Suggestions?

    I've got a dinky little thing that came with the computer and I'm looking to get another one, so I can give this one to my brother. :o

    The Sony DRU530 is close to $100 now. I've got it and it works great. The latest firmware lets it do 8X on DVD-R.

    my liteon 811 works great and was well under $100

    I would get the Sony DW-U18A if you're on a budget. It's under $80 at local retailers.

    The Pioneer DVR-108 is one of the better 16x drives on the market -- expect to pay $110.

    The Plextor PX-712A is the best on the market right now, imo. That goes for around $150.

    Lite-On has a 16x dual layer thats pretty inexpensive.. a little less than $100.

    i got my LG dual layer burner for $100 CAD. 16X regular burner, 2.4X dual layer.

    seems pretty decent soo far.
