this might sound confusing but i'm extremely fast.. 40 in under 4.2 but i can only jump about 28-30 inches vertical jump..so my legs work one way but not the other, i understand lower back is involved too but i feel pretty strong there too.. maybe just practice and technique.

i'm about 5'11 210 pounds, can anyone help me jump higher, also looking for a new training routine, currently i just do weights 2 a days,(5 days a week) i want to do weights in the morning and then something different like bodyweight / full strength resistance or something where you put your own muscles against themselves.. but i have no clue how to get started on that stuff.. stuff like being able to do the flag pole stuff and just crazy full body strength.

looking to try out for football within the year.. want to add some serious jump inches thanks.

on a side note i do endurance cardio in the morning before breakfast and then post am workout i sprint.

Either way, look for the The Vertical Jump Development Bible by Kelly Baggett

I can't imagine a situation where someone can run the 40 in under 4.2 and not have an obscene vertical.

There are VERY few NFL players, if any, that can run an auto-timed 40 under 4.2

Did you leave out the 1 in 14.2 or something?

Saying you run a five two is like saying your mother doesn't swallow.

    It just isn't true.

You literally took the thoughts right out of my head.

Only I literally said "20 yard dash maybe"

If he was running that fast he'd be an Olympian.

I have what is to be considered an "insane" vertical. I have dunked on an 11ft rim in high school.

Since then, 2 years ago I only hit 10ft 10in. vertical, measure at the arts and sciences dept at the local university.

I accredit this ability to going to an all black grammar school for 3 years. No racism, but all my friends were constantly jumping and trying to "touch" things...in 6th grade a good majority were already able to hit the rim. Me being a white boy, I needed "jumps" to hang with them. So I too started jumping at everythin I could see and soon enough was able to hit the rim in 7th grade, dunked by 8th grade.

    Just gotta keep at it.
