I've got about $16.5k for a car. Right now I have an 04 civic coupe but that car is just to small for me. I'm looking at getting something a little bigger with low miles.

So far my best option seems like an 04-05 Altima. I don't know too much about those cars. What do you guys think, are they pretty reliable?

the QR25DE altimas are actually pretty unreliable...the engine has a couple major issues like pre-cat failure that have been the cause of many blown engines in the past, and the butterfly screw on the TB seems to come loose...i'll let you draw your own conclusions on what happens next

However, if you get the dealer to perform the recalls, there aren't many other serious issues involved with the altima. If you're looking at a V6 altima, a few of them have seen some oil burning issues, but not very many. The interior quality on the '04s are a lot worse than the 05 model so I'd shoot for an '05, especially if you're looking to getting the 4 cyl altima.

Also test drive the accord...IMO they're better than the altima

You might be able to find a mazda 6 for that.

All you people recommending BMWs are idiots. For that price range, you'll end up with an older high-mileage vehicle and end up paying out the ass for repairs and maintenence. I'd take an Altima if it were a V6 (my ex-g/f had a 4cyl, and it was pretty gutless). As someone else mentioned, Accords aren't too bad. My cousin has a 2 door V6 coupe, and it's pretty sweet.
