The Russian 5.45 is good stuff. My Tantal has been great, eats up anything I feed it. 5.45 mags are expensive now. K-Var might have some but it seems like most vendors are sold out. There's always some overpriced (my opinion) ones on the AKforum, but there aren't many other options.

If you have a mosin spam can opener that should work as well. Otherwise, yah, get two cans, since nothing other than openers built for it are really going to get the job done easily :hsd:

I think those are USA barrel ones, worth the extra $$ for one with the original.

The first case I ordered through them included a can opener. But you may as well buy at least two cases. And yes it's corrosive.

The upper handguard on a tantal is not your standard AK furniture. You need the upper HG custom made if you want wood for it.

They make them on custom order but they won't do a complete work on the tab portion of the upper HG. You will have to do some fine tuning when you get it.

keesh recommended me. from what he said, sometimes they're iffy on customer service but i called them and explained that because i live in a high-cap mag ban state i wanted them to discount the price of the mag from the kit.

i didnt have any problems :dunno:
