Does anyone here compete in strongman?

I'm nowhere near ready but I'm wondering if anyone here (even the PLers) have any idea if theres anything going on in Canada for non-elites?

    also...

if i wanted to make the 'staples' (keg, atlas, chains, sleds, etc) from scratch, would this be a good idea? is this how everyone does it?

are there any fucking websites with tutorials for this shit because so far ive only come across US comp sites and some euro shit...also some old dudes talking about the powers of front squats which is great but not what im after

I'm pretty sure no one does strongman competitions here except me. There are a few powerlifters here though.

I also compete. Marunde-muscle has a really good board.
www.ontariostrongman.ca is the only canadian site I know off hand.

Even if you think you aren't ready the best thing to do is compete. Just go out and do it. You might just surprize yourself.

    You arent alone.

    http://www.nastrongmaninc.com/

if you are on www.afboard.com a couple members compete in canada Mr. Meat and AWR, you can talk to them or the guys on MM and im sure they can find someone you can train with.

Another board is the anvil on the nas website.

As for no being ready, I wasnt strong enough for my first contest, but I went out there and did my thing learned a good bit too. Most SM are usually willing to help anyone out, so talk to some people there.

As to make a sled, just get a flat piece of metal and weld a another piece vertically as to load weights.

farmers is pretty easy as well

for tires call around to local farmers tires supplier and see if they have any used tires

atlas stones try www.slatershardware.com he sells molds and inserts for stones

a couple people on MM have made yokes on their own so search over there for them

anything else talk to alan from pitbull he is a board sponsor over there

ill try to answer anything else you have questions about just holla at a playa when you see em in the streets
