So as of right now, I have the Canon kit lens, and I'd like something a little bit better. I'm looking for a wide angle lens with a budget of about $300. Can anyone recommend one to me? Or should I just save up and get something else?

Save more and replace your kit lens with the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8

The Tamron 17-50 is a great lens, but it will be hard to find one for $300.

What's the best place to get a Tamron 17-55mm? Also, how much do you think I could get for my kit lens?

    17-50

And I don't know. Whoever has it the cheapest. Check www.resellerratings.com as you search.

You can get whatever somebody will pay for your kit lens.

on resellerratings it looks like I can get a 17-50 for $379, so maybe I'll save up and get that one. Is that a wide angle lens? Sorry, I'm still learning

17mm is pretty wide, but not sooo much on a crop body, but it's sufficient for most applications. Make sure you're not confusing fish eye with wide angle.

You need a good standard zoom before you start dicking around with ultra wide lenses though, which are going to rape your budget a lot more than the tammy.

I'm definitely more interested in wide than fish eye. I'll wait a few more weeks and see if I can get the Tamron 17-55 lens. Thanks!
