Since my Sig .226 (german made) was stolen, I need a new method of protection. Would like some suggestions since I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to whats good.

Would not like to pay more than 500, new or used. And I'm not opposed to cylinder fed, though I'd kinda like to stick to .357/Mag if it's gonna be that.

    Suggestions!

  2. Are you looking to carry this thing, or is it going to sit on a nightstand and just be for around the house?

I have a brand new Springfield XD9 subcompact that I'd sell for around $500. Never even fired it.

This. If you are only going to have 1 pistol, I can't think of anything better than a 10mm.

If you even consider anything other than a Glock, WMD will hate you.

  21. If you want a revolver in .357 mag your most obvious choices are Ruger or S&W. The Ruger SP101 is a good gun, and small enough to carry, but it's all steel, so it's going to be pretty heavy as far as small revolvers go. S&W has a number of small revolvers that can handle .357 mag. The S&W revolvers that handle .357 mag are either steel, which makes them as heavy as the Ruger, or are the Scandium alloy models, which makes them fucking light, but rather expensive. Now, in the grand scheme of carry guns, the ~24 or so ounces for the steel S&W and Ruger .357 mag revolvers isn't too bad, but if you're going to sign up to carry that kind of weight you're better off just carrying a small semi-auto like a Glock 26 or 27. IMHO, the best feature of a small carry revolver is that it's easy to conceal and lightweight. Those benefits offset the negative of having a small ammo capacity. If you move into the world of heavy carry revolvers, you give up one of the key advantages. Now, if you decide that you can live with something in .38spl +p you can take a look at then very popular S&W 642 and 442 models. They use aluminum frames, so they're very light, they're small, they're reliable, and they make great carry guns.

Semi-autos for carry is a whole other story. It would take a while to type that all up.

I'll admit, the G19 is pretty damn hard to beat. It's simple/basic. Reliable. Tons of aftermarket shit out there for it. Relatively cheap too.

Small enough to conceal comfortably, yet large enough to shoot all day at the range.

My family and I went shooting at an indoor range recently. They wanted to be familiar with a handgun.

One of my extended family members brought a fullsize XD 9. I brought my G19. And there was a Sig P229 40 there too.

All of them loved the way the G19 shot except for 1 member. But it was her first time handling a firearm. So she wasnt comfortable with any of the firearms. Even the owner of the XD was like, what model is that again so I can trade for it? :mamoru: Kinda joking.... I think.

I've had a G19 for about fifteen years. It was my first pistol and the only one I had for most of those fifteen. Can't hit a goddamn thing with it, never could. I'm pretty good with a Ruger P89, I'd rather have one of those.
