Impact air cushioned light stands are cheap new from B&H; not worth the hassle buying used.

If you're going to be shooting SB-800's only, why PW's when you can do much more with the SU-800?

PW's are not cheaper. If you go with the Plus II's they are 180 a piece, and you need 2, +1 for each additional strobe unless you aren't going to be doing any hidden lighting then you can rely on the slave triggering on the SB's. I wouldn't bother getting PW's UNLESS you were going to be doing some serious on location multi-strobe lighting or studio work.

Skate photography. Many an obstacle are going to be in the way, the SU is infared, that won't do seeing as how the flashes most of the time will be out of sight.

Basic, cheap lighting. Not bad for what he works with. Better than anything you'll ever achieve.

I use PW's on a daily basis for studio and on location work. They are bulletproof and have unbelievable range and reliability.
