All around, general purpose shotgun -- preferably 12ga

    Mossberg 500?

Should I look into the 'gimick' setups they have with the pistol grips and plastic stocks or just get the base model and buy what accessories I want later?

It's gonna be a self-defense, screw around with trap on weekends kinda shotgun, ya dig? :bigthumb:

Can't go wrong with a 500 or an 870. If it's dual purpose, one of those 500 w/ both barrels from Big5 might be the hot ticket.

I kind of want an 1100 Tactical with a spare skeet barrel but its kind of expensive, especially if I get a surefire forend.

If you want to go dual purpose like that, then I'd look for the Mossberg combo that includes an 18" barrel and a 28" barrel (plus a pistol grip, too) and it's pretty cheap... something like $250-300.

Stores don't carry them usually, but Sportsmans Warehouse ordered it for me.

    My $0.02

I'd say 870 7shot then just add on the accessories that you want later.

Oh and Hoss, I really want that gun you've got. Where did you get the wood furniture? Ebay?

For that light duty spec consider a Mossberg Maverick 88. Takes all the 500 series accessories but is cheaper. I love mine.......it's been great. I don't often use a shotgun......99.9% of things I do with guns revolves around CCW, so I didn't need the best of the best.
