    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at buying a NAS server for home/small office. I will require it to be able to save windows, mac and linux files at the same time (I'm not sure how that will work, if i have to partition my drives or what not)

I want Raid 1 at least, Raid 5 would be a bonus.

I've been looking at some models like a Iomega StorageCenter Pro 150d (2TB) as an example.

    Thanks!

Do *NOT* get the Iomega. Such a piece of shit. They have really gone down-hill recently. Why not get a decent RAID5 card and an entry-level Intel Server Board, and do it that way?

With SMB you won't need to partition differently for diff OSes. Depending on what OS you wanna run on the NAS box, NTFS, ext3, or reiserfs would be good choices.

Yah I guess custom is always the best way to go

I was just about to mention it. It's working wonderfully for my needs in a home office environment, with a 3-drive RAID-5 volume for 1TB space.
