Looking into getting a mustang....I dont have it pinned to which exact year but i like the 5.0's to the 2002's.

How are the prices for parts and stuff. Is maintenance expensive compared to tuner cars?

Its going to be a daily driver for college student(myself), just regular day to day driving.

If you want to go fast in a 5.0 you're either boring the block over with new internals for N/A power, or boosting it and threatening the block past a certain point. Or putting a 351 in there.
A 2V 4.6 pretty much needs boost, but never needs a new platform. Rods after 425rwhp if run everyday wanting reliability. Pistons after 475+rwhp. Crank after 630rwhp or so.
You can find used parts for cheap on both platforms. Neither is that much more expensive than the other. Although a 5.0 is easier to work on.

they DO have a large following.
because the IRS fucking BLOWS for drag racing.... and most people drag race with these cars.

Because they actually have a following enough to make them more expensive than new mustang GT's. It's like a MKIV Supra Ford edition.

if you just want a fun, sweet sounding, decently powerful car to drive around you'll be fine with a 2v 99-04. if you're looking for speed don't bother with a 2v.

could someone explain the mustang models too me if you don't mind?

in the last gen 96 to.. 04? you had the GT which was the 4.6L engine with 300hp

than the cobra/terminator/svt which was supercharged with the 390hp motor.. and it ran from?

96-98 GT are "NPI" 2V mustangs with poor flowing heads/intake manifold and shallow cams 215-225hp/275tq
99-04 GTs are "PI" 2V mustangs with better cams/heads/intake manifold. First two years have plastic intake that can crack like 96-98's. 265hp/302tq
96-98 Cobras are 4V's but have IMRC's that restrict some flowage and they come with split port "B" heads which are not bad. 305hp/300tq
99/01 Cobras are N/A and come with "C" heads which flow a little better. Have IRS and now made with a WAP aluminum block which isn't as strong as the old Teksid in the 96-98 cobras. 320hp/317tq although the 99's need the "Fix" from the dealer to get that power level.
03/04 cobras are the terminators. 390hp/390 tq - underrated to be under 400hp for insurance reasons. All forged internals, iron block. Has IRS, is a bit heavier. Crazy bolt on potential. Has best flowing (outside Ford GT heads) "tumbler port" heads.
03/04 Mach 1 - has same heads as 03/04 cobra. Forged crank on manuals like all cobras. 305hp/320tq - basically a 2001 cobra possibly better.

He asked for power, engine type, years for models:dunno:
You called my car a piece of shit:squint: The engine was easy to remedy, an ugly looking car would be more difficult to do so.

    215 horsepower, from a v8? :ugh:

and fuck mustang models are confusing. If they were going to introduce a new supercharged model, they really shouldn't have called it a cobra, which just a year before hand was a NA model

i guess thats why it got the tag "SVT Cobra"

but thanks, now i understand why OT talks about "cobras" and doesn't have supercharged engines.

Yup, 215hp FTL. But headswaps are really cheap too, and so are cams. My friend ported his own NPI heads by hand and put in stage II regrind cams for cheap with LT headers and other boltons after he redid the bottom end just as a rebuild, and made 310rwhp/310rwtq. I'm at 292/312 with MMR stage II ported PI heads through an auto - but cant run stage II cams or LT headers and pass smog here in Commiefornia; just stage I's.

with that piece if shit 2v it is.

if your referring to my car, not only do i think it looks better than your car, stock for stock and mod for mod, it would destroy your car in a quarter mile race.

now, go wash the sand out of your pussy.

maybe its just the cars in my area, but i have never seen one run right.... which doesn't make much sense... but i see what i see. i guess i should pass my judgment on all 99s.

the svt tag really has nothing to do with it.

    its just a different motor.
