5.3 vortec with 4 speed auto :hs:

would prefer six speed standard or even five speed standard :naughty:

but would definately keep stock and get dealer installed magnuson supercharger and dyno tuned afterwords.

Build quality of the GMT900s is WAY better than the GMT355 mini-truck.... get a Sierra and be done with it. Plus, having the option of the 6.2L + 6L80E >>>.

Half tons tow just fine, thanks. Granted you're a bit more limited as far as WHAT you can tow, but for what a majority of people tow on a regular basis half ton is fine. The way I see it if I have to haul something my half ton can't handle, I'll just go rent an HD truck for the day/weekend.

Is it worth the difference considering diesel is pricier than high-test?

The Dmax/Allison is going to cost you.
I probably get 22mpg or so when I keep my heavy foot under control.
    Tow anything.....and smoke anything with a 5.3L.

Yep, I've heard many times that the Allison is only good for ~100hp over stock without a little work. Good luck.

the tranny holds great even with the 230hp tune.. except for when your in 5th gear. and even then its fine as long as you dont romp on it

but the problem was just a low range sensor... cost me $700 to fix it. :greddy:

I love mine. 2008 SLE2 w/ Offroad package. I5 is a pretty decent motor. Mines lifted 4" with 32" tires and I still average 18mph and it pulls just fine for such a small motor.
