    I have a text file which is like a database. There are over 1500 entries of the form:

    [entry 1]
    name=...
    attr=...
    z=...
    x=...
    y=...

    [entry 2]
    x=...
    name=...
    z=...
    y=...
    attr=...
    load=...

    Note that the order of the lines changes from entry to entry. Some entries also have more lines than others. So on and so forth. Is there a program that can eliminate some lines that I dont need? Or pull out lines that I do need and keep it in a certain format? I want to put it in the form:

    [entry 1]
    name=...
    attr=...

    [entry 2]
    name=...
    attr=...

    Thanks.

    You could look at some of the more robust text editors like ultraedit or Pspad as they might be able to find & replace like you are wanting.

    all you have there is a basic INI file.. I'll see if I can scrounge something quick up to delete the entries / values you don't want if you'd like.
