    THe background is very distracting.

She needs more fill light, via a bounced or reflected flash to get her eyes brighter.

Im not fond of her arm positioning you can draw the arms with your mind just by how she has them places, and she looks as though she is bracing herself on a table, or has her arms wide, or is about to lift something. It makes for some awkwardness in the depth of the photo.

I would probably chop the fridge and clone out all of the photos and make it a blank fridge, as well as tone down the highlights from the window if you can.

if not, I'd get out my tablet, bust out the pen tool in illustrator/photoshop and put her into a more desirable background :big grin:

But thats probably not what you're looking for, right?

I don't really see that photo getting any better. It's one I would trash during the first round after pulling them into Lightroom. There's nothing you can do about the background that wouldn't require an exceptional amount of work. You could try a tighter crop, filling the frame with your subject.

Other than that, all you can really do is work on the girl. Brighten her up, enlarge/brighten the camera right eye, soften the uneven facial lines, broaden the lips, fix the contour of her ear, add more volume to her hair on the camera right side and slim down her shoulders.

You could use recovery.. But hmm.. its gonna be hard.

AS you can see above with the jokesters, the "300" preset toned them down quite a bit. Cropping her more would help, like, turn it into a headshot instead of showing her shoulders.. crop it at a portrait aspect ratio rather than landscape, that will help get rid of some of the distraction

But without substantial amounts of work that photo itself, is DOA, dead on arrival
