I have a VW Jetta that currently has a cd changer in the trunk. It works fine but doesnt sound the best and I would rather have a deck in the car with a cd player in it. I was wondering if you guys could recommend one for me that

a.) isnt flashy as shit, my car gets parked in a semi shady area and the last thing I want is a busted window I also hate those shitty sony's that have the LCD's which are always flashing

b.) sounds good w/ amp and sub

c.) costs under 250 if possible.. my parents are going to pay for it because I am going to give the cd changer to my sister (who would have a harder time changing her deck due to an integrated alarm system). I wold be willing to throw in a little money if necessary though.

I suppose I'd go with the best alpine, pioneer or clarion you can buy. They should all perform well in that price point. Just try them out and see which one you like the interface of the most.

2nd the Alpine. I have always had great luck with them, and they are not very flashy.

What he said. Both are "performance" head units. The Alpine just looks better :)

I'll have to disagree with the looks part. Alpines look dated to me, and I wish they would allow themselves some more creative freedom from the 4-button staggared design on the left they've had forever.

Alpine or Pioneer for that price range.

Good luck for $250 lol. More like at least $400 and up.

Agreed, but no where near the price range he wants to spend

Lower model Eclipse, CD5XXX. 5V preouts, not to flashy design, awesome sound quality. Only downside is, no removable faceplate but Eclipse does offer one year theft replacement if installed by an authorized dealer.
