looking for good 10" sub

Discussion in 'OT Technology' started by pinoy_thug161, Nov 20, 2003.

  1. my 2000 kenwood dB sounds ugly when it gets loud
its being powered by an xtant 121m and i've also tried a cadence z1000 on it
any suggestions for a decent 10" sub?

how much are u looking to spend? from the looks of it, i would bet you're expecting too much from it. its a 10" sub and if you're trying to get loud with that particular sub, you're driving the sub out of it linear range. once u do that, you increase distortion a lot (not to mention your BL drops A LOT which accounts for 60% of the driver's THD).

i would go with a bigger sub. try a 12" or 15" sub. how much space and money do u have?

I agree with GSteg, you might as well get a larger diameter subwoofer as well as one with more linear excursion.

  4. i wanted something small yet decent
maybe an 8" solobaric would do better?
i don't want to take up a lot of space in my trunk (i had 2 10" eclipse alums but took up my whole trunk)

Like GSteg asked, how big is your box?

A proper install can make anything sound nice and decent. MAybe you should stop by your local shop and see what they can do for you interms of box build and tuning.
