Hey I'm in need of some DV capturing software. Windows Movie Maker doesn't put it into mpeg, and ArcSoft ShowBiz freezes whenever I record it. But I just want to be able to take video from my camcorder and record it into an .mpg video (or any other format thats small) to my computer.

edit: im not looking for an actual program from anyone. just the name of one.

Why not use .avi (which is superior to .mpg in quality and size)

well, i get a strange error when recording onto the computer from a tape. it rewinds it for me, and starts to record, but i get an error saying something along the lines of the camcorder being used by another source and it closes the wizard. when i do it with arcsoft showbiz, it just freezes. and with this dazzle software, the quality is bad when their is movement, but its the only program thus far that has recorded from the tape without problem

i have windows movie maker already. i said earlier that when trying to record the tape, i get an error that the camcorder is in use by another program, but it isnt. but it works fine with every other option on the program.
