Going to buy a Wilderness Instructor Belt for a gunbelt--IDPA and classes mostly (no CCW at this point :hsd:)

Looking at the 5-stitch and the CSM polyethylene-reinforced models.

Anyone have experience with either, or both?

I'm tempted to just get the 5-stitch, it's $5 cheaper....but I don't know if it's quite stiff enough for "serious" use, whereas the CSM one is supposedly designed for (according to the mfgr. website) "Action shooters," so it should be plenty stiff for carrying a loaded pistol plus mags, and lots of manipulations, etc.

oh yeah, here's the belt in question:

I asked this same question about a month or so ago... http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=3826617

So now I have the CSM poly-reinforced in both 1.5" & 1.75" widths. The 1.75 was game belt for a while (replaced with a o/u comp belt) and the 1.5" is my EDC unless I'm tucking my shirt.

If it is going to be a dedicated gun belt then I don't see any reason not to go with the poly-lined CSM model. I've never found my 1.5" CSM uncomfortable, and the added stiffnes will only be an advantage when you have all that weight on your belt.

    I don't have a plain 5-stich to compare too...

Not implied. It's a regular IDPA joke. When you come to an IDPA match it's a regular 5.11 conference. I call it the "IDPA Uniform", I get flamed for that, but oh well. I always joke, "you guys have so many pockets on your pants and vest, why do you even bring a range bag!" or "Are we in Iraq, or Renton?"

They usually go all out with the 5.11 vest, pants, shirts, boots and hats. I like their gear, but I'm more practical. I usually wear a button up golf shirt and khaki shorts and sneakers.

I ride my bike in 5.11/Royal Robbins gear, because it's tougher material than most of my jeans. :dunno:

No, always get a size or two up for a gun belt. (example: Size 32, get a size 34 belt) You need to allow room for IWB carry. Keep in mind these belts don't have any "give" (which is good) and are stiff, so compensate and get a size bigger belt.

I'm sure they're great for a lot of applications. Again, it's an "IDPA joke", nothing malicious. Just some ribbing is all. It doesn't affect me either way what people wear, I sort of stick out from the crowd because I look more civillian.

I did. Hoping it arrives before 7/19 :x:
And @AB13 re: size, I did that too...I have about a 31waist (pants) so I ordered a 33" belt--which, I checked, is darn close to the right size with my OWB holster & mag carrier on, too.
