    So basically I have one semester left until I graduate with a CS degree, and the only C/C++ work I have ever had to do was unix command line programs. Sure they went in depth with algorithms and all, but I want to branch out, since the world doesn't only want command line unix programs. I downloaded the visual studio .net which I receive as a freebie through a university/microsoft agreement, and I have no clue how to get started... anyone recommend a decent tutorial? for someone who is only a beginner to graphical programs.

    By graphical programs, I can only assume you're talking about a graphical user interface. While using Win32 API to do GUI programming is more difficult than using frameworks, it shouldn't be hard to pick up for an experienced programmer.

    I suggest following this tutorial to begin: http://www.winprog.org/tutorial/

    New project -- win32 project - empty project

    add file to project - main.c

    #include <stdio.h>
    int main()
    {
    int i=0;
    printf("Hello ! #%d",i);
    i++;
    printf("\n I +1 = %d",i);
    return 0;
    }

    Build -- Rebuilt all

    Execute
