I'm looking for a tripod for my Canon Pro1 and there are so many...how do I determine what is good and what is junk? I've been to Bestbuy, Fry's Electronics, and CompUSA....I have also looked online at butterflyphoto and beachcameras and there are so many. Ambico looks like a popular one. Samsonsite makes some as well as Sony. Any help is appreciated. :)

I bought a Velbon one for 52 dollars. Velbon is a great company for tripods, along with Manfrotto or is Manfretto. Velbon is the cheaper of the two. Manfretto makes some pimp Carbon Fiber tripods ahaha. they run about 460 bucks.

I was flipping through eBay and saw these brands... Vanguard, Slik and Ambico... how are those? They look real affordable. I'm looking for a tripod with a aiming arm and a liquid level... oh and something that is fairly heavy duty. Do the words heavy duty and light go together? haha...My target price is 30-60 bucks but 60 being an extreme case. I've heard of Velbon...somewhere... I'll check those out. thanks for the help! :)

My velbon has all those features. I have an aiming arm that lets the camera tilt vertically. and a liquid level.
