I currently have a 17" CRT (Samsung) from around '99, and I'm noticing that the brightness is turned all the way up, and I'm starting to see some images that are a little dim, so I figure this thing is going to be too dark sometime this year. Now I'd really like to get an LCD monitor to save some space, but I don't know which monitors are good. :dunno: I know that I want at least a 17", but a 19" would be fantastic. What are some good monitors out there, keeping in mind that I'm on a budget. I figure I could find a good 19" for $400 or less, right?

I love my Samsung 997DFs (19" flat CRTs), but they're not LCDs. Good price though, I paid ~300 Canadian each.

Mainly internet surfing, audio recording/mixing, movies (mainly pr0n, no DVDs :o ), etc. I don't do any gaming on here, I use the ps2/hdtv.

my monitor is a veiwsonic 19" a90F+ it is brigth as hell and im not sure but i think you can get it for under 300 although last time i was at the veiwsonic website i didnt see it and that was several months ago
the feature that makes it so bright is called "Ultra Bright Mode" so if you get any veiwsonic with that feature im sure you'll be satisfied
