Thing is, I don't really upgrade all that often (well, not the hard drive that is). I'm running on a simple 40GB'er from 3 years back, and it's starting to make the grinding sound. So what's recommended? I hear Western Digital is decent. I don't needthe largest hard drive around - I don't download movies or music.

Check out the western digital JB series of drives, 7200rpm and 8mb cache. Make sure you check out the prices of the larger drives, sometimes it's a matter of $20 to double the size of the drive.

If you want long term reliability seagate will be your best bet. They are the only manufacturer with a 5 year warrenty on their drives and there is a reason why.

If you are looking to save a few bucks and still have a quality drive get a WD.
