I currently have a Canon S80 and love it, but it's not exactly pocket size and the microphone on it sucks in clubs (where I need to use it).

What I do like about it is the Manual mode. I like being able to manually adjust the shutter, aperture and ISO. I also like the max 15 second shutter. These are pretty much a must for me.

I'm pretty sure I need to go with a Sony because they have awesome microphones. Videos taken in clubs sound great, whereas with my Canon the sound is all distorted.

Do all Sony cameras use the same microphone? My friend just got a Sony DSC-N2 and the sound is great in a club. The specs are also nice, but it's not the most compact :hs:

Another friend uses a Kodak V705 and the microphone is great on that as well but the rest of the specs are weak.

If anyone can recommend a camera with a great mic and manual settings that will fit in my pocket, I'd really appreciate it. :x:

Cliffs: Looking for a pocket sized camera with the manual settings of a Canon and a microphone like the one in the Sony DSC-N2.

Most pocket sized canons like the SD line dont let you adjust aperture

why not get a camcorder with good stills? Canon has an HD camcorder for 499 that takes 7mp still now.

I don't want to carry a video camera around. I need something that will fit in my pocket. I don't need incredible video quality, just something decent with a good microphone. Sound is key. I'm pretty sure all Sony digicams have good sound when it comes to what I need it for. I just need to find a Sony cam with similar options to my S80 that will fit in my pocket :hs:

their no bigger than a digital camera, HD video and do 7mp + stills. 499 too. if its for video, you'd be an idiot not to.

Any recommendations? I did my research on pocket sized video cameras a couple of years ago but things have changed :hs:

Still, there's no guarantee the sound will be good on those, which is most important to me.

Looks really nice :eek3: I wonder how well the microphone would record in a club.

The Sony DSC-W100 has everything I need, pending the mic is as good as other Sony models, but I can't find it for sale in black online :wtf:

I believe the W200 came out this year but it's not nearly as good when it comes to manual settings.

I was thinking about that, but this S80 is too large for my pockets anyway :hs:

I have one of those and the sound isn't too bad. Certainly loud enough :dunno:
