After months of trying to get used to the Taurus PT140 Millenium, I am going to start shopping around.

Other than the standard Glock and Sub XD, what are other CCW pistols to look at?

I would like ot have a .40 cal.

  2. S&W has the M&P Compact in .40. Kahr has the CW40 and PM40.

+1 for M&P compact, I have one in 9mm, love it. Obviously.

  5. I've heard overwhelmingly good things about the M&P. I've never shot one though.

That's surprising... everyone loves to hate on it, lol.

Why couldn't you get used to it? too big? too heavy? In that case other guns you listed won't help you.

Maybe he just can't shoot it accurately. I had a gun like that.

CZ-75 if you want a steel frame.

    If I couldn't have my Glock 26 I'd get an M&P9C

While I really like this pistol, I've heard the .40's are having many more problems with the slides locking back vs. the 9mm models.

Initially when they wouldn't feed damn near any JHP sure. The current production models are pretty solid as far as I've heard.

Another vote for at least looking at a CZ, but check out the CZ 2075 RAMI for something comparable in size to a subcompact Glock.

Yeah I understand. I look at it as S&W recognized the problem and took care of it, they were very professional about it.

I believe that was only from the first generation 'Special Edition' PPS's, with that different color (forgot the exact name of it).

Those in .40 have got to be painful to shoot.

Shockingly not that bad at all, less recoil than a G27.

So did I, when I was at the shop the guy behind the counter told me and I just couldn't believe it. They had a rental so I picked it out, took 50 rounds, and shot it.

Don't like the grip. too slim. I HATE the straight 8 sights and every were i look i cannot get a 3 dot sight. I cannot consistantly shoot the pistol very well

Trigger pull is odd. First pull is very long. While i have grown accustom to this, i still don't like it.

I almost got a Kahr, but at the time, the Taurus was more in the budget:o

My friend has a Kahr CW40. It's a really nice looking gun, but I have a hard time firing it because it feels so skinny. Then again I've only been shooting 4 times. :)
