If you're looking for gas mileage then you probably don't want to get anything of the the american sports car type. But if you would like gas mileage and sport you could get something like the Chevy Cobalt SS or a Saturn Ion Redline. They are pretty good looking, quick, cheap cars. But as far as the V6s go, you won't do great on gas mileage unless you're only on the highway.

Can't speak for the Mustang, but the reliability among Camaro's/ Firebird's varies greatly with the year that you purchase. The later years that are LS1 powered are by FAR the best and most reliable of all of the cars. They also get the best gas mileage too, thanks to that steep 6th gear.

Problems on those cars that are most common are the window motors going bad (actually, this was much more common on the earlier 93-97 years, I think they changed the design in '97). Pretty simple to replace yourself, costs about $150 or so at any AutoZone and they come with a lifetime warranty.

The other main issue with the LS1 cars that the earlier cars don't really have is warping brake rotors. The stock rotors tend to warp fairly easily under hard braking. Get a set of Brembo Blanks from Tire Rack for $300 for all 4 corners and you won't have that problem.

If you buy a Mustang V6 you better be 16 and have a pony tail

An LS1 with manual trans will typically get very high teens in the city, with 27+ MPG on the highway because of the steep 6th gear. With an auto, knock off about 2 MPG in the city and about 4 on the highway. Also, an LT1 car (earlier 93-97 cars) will get close to the same, maybe about 2-3 MPG less in the city and about 2-3 less on the highway.

dude, look into the 98-00 ford contour SVT.
i know your thinking 'contour?, fuck that shit' but seriously man its not your mommas contour.
wicked car comes with all bells and whistles, 4 door so cheaper insurance, around the 25mpg mark, a sleeper, will whip around any turn just as well as a stang or camaro. and you can fuck in the back seat.

    look into that car.

mustangs with v6s are for chics and their really heavy so gas mileage is sucky anyway

That's awesome, man. I had a '94 V6 Firebird before I got my GTP. The 3.4L was teh suck, but it was a fun car, even with just a V6.
