asking for a brand new sporty car under $20 doesn't work. Half the sporty used cars are still more than $20,000. I think you should look for a low milage used car. Prices drop like crazy once they get used. You could pick up tons of nice cars for under $20,000. Mustang, GTO, Camaro, Civic, S2000, WRX, STI. Lots of nice cars.

You are asking way too much out of a new car for $20k. I would suggest a Cobalt though, they are fun with a 5 speed and the Ecotec is a fantastic engine.

Find the car you want, then negotiate until you are where you need to be.

Saturn Aura, Saturn Astra, Chevy Malibu, Chevy Cobalt, HHR, etc. Really depends what are you wanting? Sedan, Coupe, fuel economy, fwd, rwd, etc. . . If you want a cheap car I've been digging on the Kia Rio's as of late. I've had them while the Sierra and CTS were in for warranty work. Decent room (I'm 6'2" 250lbs) 36mpg, and the only thing I could see it was lacking was cruise.

I came in here not really knowing what to suggest, but this is a good suggestion

The cobalts are great little cars for the price though, I had a friend that had one before his wife wrecked it. Fun little car, he opted for the non-supercharged one because he said it didn't feel much faster (first year they came out) and would rather have the gas mileage. Turns out his mileage was often close to 30city 40hwy even with sporty driving.

I'm sure the newer turbocharged ones are a lot faster than the n/a ones, but unless you're really wanting to bury the needle I don't think you'll need it.

Can't say much about the interior or creature comforts, but then again it's like $15k msrp.
