good subs are subjective... what i like, the next person may not. i suggest you listen to all your choices, and pick the one that performs the best to your needs. there are certain brands you'll be safe with, certain brands to stay away from... and then there's the internet favorites.

I've been contemplating JBL subs ( :noes: ). They've always been a solid product, just not as mainstream in car audio as some of the other brands

well the IDQ is a great sub unless you're seeking amazing output. People win SQ competitions with ID subs

from my experience most installers are fuckign idiots and will say some stupid ass shit

this goes to a lot of people, ive heard pro JBL installation staff say some really fucking stupid things, remember, just because its their job doesnt make them good at it. ;)

Nothing wrong with Idq at all, unless as said before you want more output. If you just want it to sound good your set. with the proper setup, and install of course.

    LMAO...

New JBL isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially in the car audio world. It's good, but not AMAZING by any standards. Still a solid brand...

Just b/c I'm an 06 here... doesn't mean I'm not an '01 or an '02 on MANY other DEDICATED car audio forums ;). Also, being a moderator on two of them, including the most highly trafficked car audio forum on the internet.

    Thank you very much ;)...

    Which forums?

Anyways I personally like JBL. Thier amps are very solid and thier subs are pretty nice as well. There are just too many choices out there :eek3:

Anywho, whats wrong with the IDQ? That sub rocks and there is no reason to replace it.

    Lmao... simply put... lmao...

Been here for a few days, and I've already heard this generic "JBL Pro Audio 9 years..." retort more than once...

    :(...

Oh well, my knowledge and experience speaks for itself. Ask Gsteg... or your buddy Aaron (aka Denim) ;)...

But you'll prolly not care about that either... really doesn't bother me... :dunno:

Indeed my man. But, at least I could still hear ;)...

Anyways, IDQ's are great... excellent SQ.

    I'd also check out...

    SoundSplinter RL-i 12 www.soundsplinter.com

Or even the OEM Image Dynamic subs on ebay!

    :)

but anyway yeah the IDQ should be good, have you seen loudsystems install when he did 4 of them in the back of a tahoe i believe?

just listen to as many different things as u can so u can use process of elimination, its a lot easier to shop when you know what you dont like before hand.

if demoing a large variety of products is hard for you - as it is for many others- then ofcourse you get to go at the task of buying something you hope will sound just as good or better. [online]

as long as you dont get referred by a complete moron you should be in the clear though.

if you want to get ur system louder just add another IDQ, 2+ of them should be awesome.

and on an unrelated note for those looking for cheap bass elemental designs has back ordered supplies rolling in from an 04 shipment and theyre selling 13 kv2s at 50 bucks a piece.
