My mom wants to get a digital camera for about $300 - $400. I have no idea where I should start, what brand names and models are reliable, etc. What does OT recommend?

not really a con for the 600, just lets you snap some more pictures :p

the sd600 is very nice, i got it for like $215 and it came with a cute lil mini tripod as well as a 1gig card (a must buy, or 2gig, as it comes only with a 16mb card). it comes with a nice range of features, but i was dissapointed to find that i couldn't control everything i wanted to in manual mode (fstop, shutter are lacking). even though i can't control everything, it snaps beautiful pictures at a great price.
