I'm wanting one for CCW, looked at the EMP from Springfield and would LOVE to get it but the price tag isn't very friendly.

What is 'friendly' to you? They run from 400ish up to several grand.

Do you have to have a 1911 for CCW?
What about the Para Warthog (also expensive though).
Many around here would recommend a Glock 19, J-Frame style revolver, or a Kahr 9.
But there certainly are many other options out there besides 1911. Not trying to dissuade you, just throw out more options.

Rock Island Armory.. $400 and under in most places that sell 'em. I love mine.

And were you so inclined, you could CCW it easily.. sure it's a bigger gun, but it doesn't seem to profile too bad, and the single-stack mag helps out some.

Under $500 is friendly to me right now, I know i'll be getting the shittier of the 1911's but I dont have a grand sitting around to buy a springfield like i would like to have.

I guess it doesn't have to be a 1911, I have an XD9 that i carry everyday for work but in plain clothes I usually wear button up dress shirts with jeans but usually tuck in my shirt so that kind of screws me on about any kind of carrying. My pockets are a lil to tight to be able to reach in and grab a weapon in the heat of the moment.

After looking again i found the micro GI model for a lil over $600

Might have to consider that one.

You don't have to have a new one. I got my Colt Gov't model (S80) for $405 a few years ago. Sure, I've put more $$ into it, but mostly on bling. Refinish, nice grips, and some Wilson internals. But if you wanna spend $500-600, get a used Colt, run a few hundred rounds through it and see if you wanna upgrade anything. $150ish would get you a Wilson hammer, sear, and trigger, installed by a competant gunsmith. Then you'd have a Colt 1911 with a sweet trigger pull. :bigthumb:

I know for a fact that I want a Micro 1911 but they seem to be a lil hard to find used.

One thing to consider- most of the problems with 1911's are with the <4" barrel models. I had a Springfield Ultra compact that functioned perfect but they do tend to have more issues than the full size.

1911= .45. tis the only way!! I loved it actually. it was my first bigger caliber gun so to say, very manageable, great shooter. but I've heard you do roll the dice on the smaller onces. I sold it to buy fund a Glock purchase, then bought a full sized Springfield Loaded, sold that to buy a Springfield Operator- so yeah I like Springfields.
