I'd go with a CF card.

if you're shooting RAW, get 8 gigs or bigger. If not, 4 gig would do fine.

nice man! its a beast :big grin: Personally, I would sell that lens and get something else. You could get 500 for it and easily get a decent lens or 2 primes for that money. you could get a 50 1.8 and a 35-70 2.8 for the same price. Or perhaps an uwa like a 10-20 or 11-16

That's a hell of a deal. Congrats. I'm not a fan of that lens but some people love it, I'm sure it will be good to learn with.

this is my first dslr so I dont have much to compare it to but I plan on getting some new glass soon. I just have no idea what I should get.

I shoot alot of action water sports- surfing, wakeboarding. what would be ideal for this?

I would also like to get a macro lense; and a fisheye....geez this is the start of an expensive hobby

for sports I would definitely recommend a telephoto like the 80-200, this is the only lens on my wish list for now

-2 ring 80-200 2.8 you can find for 600 used on fredmiranda sometimes
-tokina 11-16 is a good uwa, or the 10.5 fish if you really want fish
-people here have the tamron 90mm macro I think and seem to like it

It's usually a good idea to use smaller CF cards just in case one fails or is lost all of your work isn't on one card. :o:)

I've got a couple of the Extreme III 4GB cards and I'm pretty happy with them:bigthumb:

And Amazon has a bunch of dealers that were selling them for like 30ish bucks iirc.

    congrats! d300 crew....

I think you should keep that lens for a while. Maybe 5 or 6 months at least. Learn where you like to shoot, then you will know what lens you want to upgrade to.

I am glad I got a shitty one for my d70. Cost me 40 bucks and I now know I like grips. All grips in the future will be 1032493 times better than the one I got for my d70 though haha, the shutter release didnt even work/needed ir

haha, mine works pretty good, but you have to use an external cable to connect it to the main body in order to get the shutter release and other controls to work properly.
