This was a small one day con. It was an okay size with just the right amount of artists. I was able to pick up Forty-Five from Comx before the Wednesday release, and got some artwork. On to the pics!

I got there about 10 minutes after it opened, and sure enough there's Steve Niles and Bernie Wrightson just getting there. This is the 2nd time I've caught Niles getting to a con.

These cars were outside the con.

I figured Mike Mignola would get busy, so I went straight to him to get one of the greatest GN's ever signed. I also got his sketchbooks.

Stopped by Mark Dos Santos area and bought these prints.

Here's Dustin Nguyen. He only lives 15 minutes away from the con, but was late by almost an hour.

Here's a print of Fathom in a bikini (no surprise there), and I think they were trying to channel a Megan Fox look since she'll play her if the movie ever happens.

Here's Todd Nauck and his wife. I asked him if anyone asked him to sketch Obama, and of course lots of people did soon after ASM 583. He won't do them since it was kind of a one-off thing, and wanted to make it a respectable take on him. Real nice guy.

This one is of Vampirella, so it's naturally *NWS*.

Stopped by Cat Staggs table who does photo-realistic art. She did this back cover for the Olivia Munn Parody comic coming soon. Due to a preemptive lawsuit, I asked if she was sure it would come out, and she said "Yeah, it's a parody she can't do anything."

I bought this print by Chris Moreno. I really liked the colors.

The rest of these pics are risque to full on drawn boobies by Eric Basaldua aka ebas.

LOOK AT THESE AT WORK, AND YOU WILL GET FIRED!

I really wanted to go and see Eric Basaldua but I was working :o

I heard a lot of complaints about the size of the thing, but what could people seriously be expecting out of a $10 one day event?

Thanks! Which black guy? The one by Niles, or the one in an orange hat by Todd Nauck?

There's some talk of a convention happening in Pasadena in a few months, I think memorial day weekend, and he may be going.

Like I said before, I thought it was going to be in the room from October which was way bigger, but I thought the size they used was alright.

Didn't notice the orange hat one. Thought there was just one black comic book fan in the whole convention :mamoru:

 I like to think comic fans cross all ethnicity, gender, and age groups. We could use some more females though :o

    Smaller cons ftw

You can actually sit and chat with artists/writers and bullshit with them for awhile as opposed to waiting 45 minutes in line, saying a nice comment, getting and autograph and getting the fuck out.

I wanted to check this out, but I don't think it's big enough to warrant an 8 hour drive.

I think all comic fans should go to a convention at least once in their lives. Guy fans are mostly just normal, but typically shy people. Though there are definitely some freaks too :noes:

Good call, especially for a one day con. They'll have their bigger one this coming October. That one might be worth the 8 hour drive depending on which pros come.

You got it. You're officially on notice: Wizard is having their own con April 16-18 in Anaheim. Though they might as well call it celebrity-con since it seems the ratio of former movie/tv stars is much higher than comic professionals.

I know, but me and Navvik gotta 'present our "people" where possible. Only met one other black guy who liked comics in my entire life. ONE. Except for Navvik, but that doesn't count because he's a lame homo.

I've been to the one here in Portland. I don't think it compares at all.:rofl:

Although... that might have been the one Michael Dorn was at. :eek3: I can't remember it was at least 10 years ago
