my friend had one that he wanted to get rid of - offered it to me for $50 with 3 boxes of ammo

i tried it out at the range once

didn't buy the gun (a different friend ended up picking it up - just for the ammo - then he sold the gun to another friend for 50 - that other friend got a holster and carries it :ugh:)

As ugly as those things are, I've actually heard they're pretty reliable.

LOL, there will ALWAYS be some sack rider that doesn't want to feel bad about his purchase that will back up "his" gun with some ridiculous claim of dead nuts reliability.

Usually that entails shooting 50 rounds at a time at the range from a period of 5 years to get the 500 rounds of flawlessness claim. lol

If you want to see what a gun is really made of, take it to Thunder Ranch, a full weekend defensive school or a weekend of competitive shooting. THEN we can talk.

Fuck. I was trying to find the thread on Glock Talk about the SIG vs Hi Point.

That was a good read. Last I read, the Hi Point was still ticking away, and the SIG had an FTF/FTX or two.

I've got a hi-point carbine, 9mm. never had an issue with it. is it as nice as my beretta storm? No. Is it butt ugly? yes. Is it reliable? yes. and unlike my storm, I don't worry about it if it's bouncing around in the truck, or if something happens and it falls and gets nicked / scratched.
